Deewani Mastani | EXCLUSIVE Video Song | Bajirao Mastani | Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka
In Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, Deepika Padukone makes a grand entry with the song 'Deewani Mastani'. Even though that can be said about every frame in a Bhansali film, Padukone still manages to completely grab your attention from the minute she appears on screen. 'Deewani Mastani' is the film's first song to be released.
But that's not all. The Ram Leela actress has said in a report that this song is the grandest thing about the film, and is sort of an ode to the song from the classic film Mughal-e-Azam, 'Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya', in which Anarkali openly declares her love for Salim.
"The song is inspired by Mughal-E-Azam. We have tried to recreate the Aaina Mahal (mirror palace). But it is also Bhansali's contemporary take or version of a song, where Mastani is completely besotted by Bajirao and is madly in love with him," said Padukone at the song's launch in Delhi.
In the song, Deepika enters a large gathering and sings directly to Bajirao (Ranveer Singh). Deewani Mastani has a part sufi-part Maharashtrian sound, where Deepika can be seen dancing with complete abandon, as Singh, looking every bit like a king, watches her in complete enchantment.
Sitting above all the action in a terrace-like space, Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai, Bajirao's first wife, looks down upon all the action (metaphorically and otherwise). It's easy to get sucked into all the drama and emotion in this two-minute-long song. While the song itself is quite forgettable, the visuals aren't.
Bajirao Mastani will release on 18 December. Watch the song here:
